Peter Lynch was born and raised in Chicago before relocating to Peoria after his graduation from law school.

Prior to attending law school Peter worked in commercial finance where he managed a portfolio totaling over $7 million. Peter then went to work for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office while putting himself through his first years of law school. Peter graduated cum laude from The John Marshall Law School. Since graduating law school Peter has worked for a prestigious nation-wide firm, as well as managed his own law firm as a solo-practitioner.

Peter is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois.

Peter was named one of Peoria’s 40 Leaders Under Forty in 2016 and the Peoria Journal Star’s Best of the Best “Best Attorney Marital and Family Law” in 2018. Mr. Lynch handles all types of family law matters, including, divorce, custody, child support, orders of protection, civil union dissolutions, no contact/stalking orders, adoptions, grandparents’ rights and maintenance cases. Peter’s commercial finance work has provided valuable expertise in high asset divorces.

Peter has successfully defended all types of criminal matters including felonies, misdemeanors, DUIs, traffic tickets, ordinance violations, domestic violence, drug cases and juvenile delinquencies. Working at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office taught Peter not only how to prosecute a case, but also how to defend against criminal prosecutions.

Peter is a member of the Criminal Justice Act panel for the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Peter is frequently appointed to defend persons accused of serious crimes by the United States Government.

Peter is a frequent chosen speaker for continuing legal education seminars on Family Law and Criminal Law.

Peter and his wife Jennifer are the parents of four active children.
